Most people do not think about getting a life threating illness. The majority will say, “It won’t happen to me”.
DID YOU KNOW?
- Every 5 minutes someone is admitted to a UK hospital due to a heart attack l
- 1 in 2 people born after 1960 in the UK will be diagnosed with some form of cancer during their lifetime ll
- Every 5 minutes someone in the UK will have a stroke lll
We are not providing you these statistics to frighten you; just because they happen, does not mean that you will die from them. Medical treatments are advancing all the time and therefore survival rates on the majority of critical illnesses are rising.
Nevertheless, the impact from being diagnosed with a critical illness financially, can be hard to say the least. You may be faced with prolonged periods where you are unable to work, due to treatment. If you went for private treatment, you may recover quicker, but again the costs involved may put a strain on you financially. If you were to cover yourself against such an event, even though it would be a tremendously difficult period personally, the financial burden could be lifted.
